CRPA: Certified Recovery Peer Advocate
This immersive course combines Recovery Coach Academy and Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches utilizing the CCAR curriculum. Gain core skills to guide, mentor, and support people in or seeking recovery from addiction. We will emphasize recovery planning, relationship-building, and communication. Ethical requirements will be covered, including maintaining healthy boundaries, recognizing ethical warning signs, and making sound decisions in emotionally complex environments. By the end of this course, you will be empowered with the tools to work with clients in a variety of settings, including treatment centers, community organizations, emergency departments, and justice systems.
Enrollment Requirements:
• At least 18 years of age
• Live or work at least 51% of the time within NYS (at time of application & testing)
• High School Diploma (or HS equivalency or higher education)
Additional Info: NYS Certification: This program is a NYCB-approved training specific to the Peer Recovery (PR) domains. In addition to training, successful completion of 500 hours of supervised volunteer or paid work experience specific to the PR domains, 25 hours of mentoring/supervision specific to the PR domains, and a passing score on the IC&RC Peer Recovery (PR) Examination are required for certification.
