Introduction to Notary Public
Prepare for the New York State Notary Public test and gain a comprehensive view of the Notary Public office. Confusing laws, concepts, and procedures will be clearly explained and clarified. Examples will be provided to illuminate situations that a Notary Public officer is likely to encounter. This workshop is a must for Notary Public candidates to become fully aware of the authority, duties, and responsibilities involved in this office. All materials will be provided, including links to NYS Department of State licensing information, booklets, and forms. Also featured is an 80-question Practice Exam which attempts to emulate the actual New York State mandatory exam.
You will learn:
• How to avoid conflicts of interest and maintain professional ethics
• How to charge proper fees
• How to go about handling special situations
• When to defer to an attorney, and how you can minimize legal liability

Defusing the Charge: Strategies for Frontline Workers Confronted by Challenging Clients
Oftentimes emotionally charged clients seeking immediate resolution of a concern confront you, as a worker on frontlines. You become the receptacle for frustration, anxiety, hostility, and in some cases even aggression. This training will teach you skills and strategies to defuse confrontational scenarios, and restore a sense of calm to the interaction.
You will:
• Learn about emotional discharge and the difficulty associated with the regulation of affect
• Become familiarized with strategies designed to defuse aggression and restore a sense of calm to emotionally charged situations

NYS Notary Public Law Refresher
Recent changes to New York notary laws have left many seasoned Notaries Public feeling confused or out of the loop. Join us for this refresher course to have your questions answered, and to gain a comprehensive understanding of all the recent updates. The current 22-page NY Notary Law Booklet will be reviewed and highlighted with the new electronic notarization information and notary journal recordkeeping protocols. Examples using real life scenarios will be used to explain situations that a Notary Public officer is likely to encounter. Topics include an overview of how to avoid conflicts of interest, legal ethics, allowable fees, and addressing special situations. All materials will be provided, including links to the NYS Department of State licensing information, a 46-page Notary Review Guidebook with current glossary terms. Updated sample forms will also be reviewed. This presentation is a must for every commissioned NY notary to properly execute their authority, duties, and responsibilities!
