CEMI342  –  Making Great Videos

Video cameras are powerful story making tools. With a few simple techniques, it is possible to come up with an idea, capture the necessary photos and video, and assemble the elements into a compelling video. Whether you use video for business promotion, family history, how-to educational programs, documentaries, or just a collection of vacation clips with music, the process is the same for all good videos! You do not need a high quality video camera. A current cell phone will do just fine for the purpose of learning the process and creating videos for your website, YouTube, or just because it’s fun! We’ll go over the basics of planning and shooting a video, we’ll use readily available “pro-sumer” free software for video editing, the basics of “non-linear” editing, as well as tips and tricks to help you edit better and faster. You will have your first project completed by the end of the class! This class is taught on a PC but Mac users may use their own laptop and software they are familiar with in class. Just bring your own! (BYOL) This class requires strong computer skills, a working knowledge of your camera, or the camera function on your phone and whatever cords needed to be able to upload the video from your phone into our computers via USB. Now, let’s make a video!
